404 on login

Postby sebas77 » August 23rd, 2013, 4:31 pm

I know this was supposed to be temporary, but users are still getting 404 on login! Not the same users, so something is changing, but an user from Canada is still getting it and presumably other users as well.

Can this be fixed soon?

I also have person from Canada and another from US that cannot load the games. Seems to be a sitebox issue for me.

We are getting fairly regular error report emails from users with this issue so any information you can shed on it would help.

Even if you're aware of it and working on it would help.

an user from ireland is getting it too. Are we sure that it is not something wrong we do? (Although I do not see what it can be)

When we do nslookup playerio.com at our office we get 98.139.134.224

Where as one of our users who performs the same nslookup gets 69.175.9.68

The first IP is valid, the second gives a 404 error.

This is losing us quite a few potential customers and based on the volume of complaints we are receiving about this it's potentially a significant proportion.

Please give us some indication of whether anything is happening regarding this issue so we can at least get back to our users.

I'm sorry the DNS server he is using is broken, but there's nothing we can do about that.

problem is that this is happening to dozens of users, all over the world...I suspect there is something wrong somewhere!

Most of the support requests come from Canada and Ireland though.

We already suggested to use ipconfig /flushdns but it did not work.

Now we are suggesting to move to Google DNS, but really our users should not do it.

we asked our users to switch to google DNS to fix the problem (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), but I warn you, those users are relatively many.

Yes, whatever DNS servers those users are using are broken, because they are caching records far longer than they should.

surely it is the only reason why it happens, but it is unusual to see so many DNS with the same error...anyway the users can have the options to switch to google dns now, at least is something.

Is there any way to get in touch with whomever is running this broken dns and ask them to update?

that would be useful. Everyday we get at least 2-3 persons complaining about this error and these are just the ones who bother to warn us.

If you take in account that our user base (mostly from USA and UK) is quite limited now, I would not say it is an exception case. :|
