Bug with registration

Postby azuanagames » October 16th, 2010, 4:47 pm

Users are allowed to register with invalid BigDB keys.

That is, when you use the QuickConnect registration you can register username: john.doe, but the BigDB key simpleuserjohn.doe is invalid!

Registration should fail with invalid username...

Thoughts?

Hey,

That's an unintended bug with the interplay between QuickConnect and BigDB... I've filed a bug report about it, but i don't know what the solution will be, until somebody looks at it.

A workaround would be to simply disallow users to register with usernames that are invalid database keys for now.

Best,
Oliver

This issue is now fixed, when registering a simple user the username must be a valid BigDB key. Those rules are pretty lenient though, usernames can consist of letters, numbers, space, '.' and '-'.

Is the fix in BigDB or in QuickConnect?

So is Blah.boo a valid BigDB key now? It was not before.

The fix is in both, and those rules apply to both simple usernames and BigDB keys, so yes "foo.bar" is now a valid BigDB key.
