Update on Backend Services Transition

Postby Henrik » April 9th, 2016, 12:50 am

Our Valued Developer,

Yahoo would like to share some information with you about the recent purchase of the Yahoo Games Backend Services by The Games Platform Company and it’s founder, Brian Meidell. We are sending you this email to provide you with some important information directly from Brian:

Dear developers on the Yahoo Games Backend Services,

We are happy to have the opportunity to take over the Yahoo Games Backend Services and will continue to operate them as a standalone service under the Player.IO brand, focused on making games developers’ lives easier.

We recognize the incredible technical foundation of the platform, and the work done by Yahoo, but also look forward to making updates to areas where modernization is needed. As we work on creating a long-term plan for bringing the platform fully up to modern standards, we would appreciate your feedback. To let us know which areas to focus our efforts please contact us at suggestions@gamesplatform.co.

As a part of the transition, and to ensure the long-term future of the platform, we're reinstating a pay-for-what-you-use pricing model. More details about the plans are available now on http://gamesplatform.co/pricing.htm You can email me directly at brian@gamesplatform.co with any questions about specific account usage and billing going forward.

We hope that all current customers join us as we continue the legacy of Player.IO. For any customers who aren’t planning to transition, and would like to opt-out of having data transferred to us, please contact gamesnet@yahoo-inc.com before May 9, 2016 with your request to delete your available data or have it exported to you. Please note that this will terminate your service when the Yahoo Games Network is closed.

The future is bright!

Thanks,
Brian Meidell
CEO, The Games Platform Company

Finally, Yahoo would like to thank you all for allowing us to work with you to build and grow your games and businesses. We are sad to be exiting Yahoo Games, but also look forward to watching your continued success.

All the best,
The Yahoo Games Team
Henrik
