THE GAMES PLATFORM COMPANY BUYS YAHOO GAMES BACKEND SERVICES

Postby Henrik » April 9th, 2016, 12:46 am

Dear Yahoo Games Network Developer,

As we announced last month, our new strategy at Yahoo includes a more narrow focus on our core businesses. With that in mind, we’ve taken a hard look at our existing products and services and made the difficult decision to exit Yahoo Games and the related Yahoo Games Backend Services.

To ensure that the talented developers on our platform can continue to entertain your users and grow your businesses, we have reached an agreement with The Games Platform Company (GPC) to purchase the Yahoo Games Backend Services and will be transitioning the services to them over the next 30 days. We will complete the transition no earlier than May 9, 2016 and will notify you when it has been completed. Once the transition is complete, your agreement with us under the Yahoo Games Network TOS will terminate.

We’re very pleased to have found a company like GPC and it’s founder, Brian Meidell, who will be dedicated to maintaining and investing in improvements upon the platform so it continues to perform for developers. We chose Brian because as a long-time user himself, we’re confident he will provide ongoing support for the platform and your needs.

Ensuring that your use of the backend services goes uninterrupted is important to us. In order to do that, unless you opt out by taking the steps outlined below, Yahoo will be transferring your data to GPC. Once the transfer is complete, your data will be governed by GPC’s privacy policy. If you choose to continue using the backend services, GPC is currently proposing to offer the services pursuant to these terms.

If you do not wish to have your data transferred to GPC, you must notify Yahoo at gamesnet@yahoo-inc.com by May 9, 2016, of your desire to opt-out. You may also manually delete or use the same email to request for Yahoo to export your available data to you from the Yahoo Games Backend Services prior to the transition to GPC.

For more information, please refer to our FAQs here. Please expect an email from us soon with a few words from Brian so he can share more about his company and his vision for the platform to help you understand what’s best for your business. If you have questions for Brian, you can contact him at brian@gamesplatform.co.

Play on,
The Yahoo Games Team
