Though mostly the response time is around 500 ms but we are occasionally seeing a latency of around 30 seconds for quick connect.

Can there be any other reason than a patchy internet connection?

What type of users are you seeing this latency for? Simple Users? Facebook?

When you make a Facebook QuickConnect, we pass all the values on to Facebook, and they are sometimes very slow at responding, which makes QuickConnect slow. We try to mitigate it as best we can, but we can't do much about the underlying problem, unfortunately.
