Errors after switching to Plus plan

Postby yailenko » August 24th, 2016, 8:10 am

We switched to Plus plan a few days ago and the players started reporting that they are losing their scores, that they are sometimes seeing their previous worse scores instead of the new good ones. This looks like a problem with writing to a database.

I checked the Player.IO Status page (https://playerio.com/status/) and it says that everything is ok right now, but there was some problem with "Complete network outage at our hosting provider" at 21st of august. Maybe these are the consequences of that problem?

Or maybe it has something to do with us switching from Free plan to Plus plan? What's happening during the switch? If games are starting to use different servers?

Hi Yailenko,

Yes, there was a network outage a few days ago at our service provider, but I have a very hard time seeing that causing a problem like you are describing, it didn't cause the various components to restart or lose contact with each other, everything just lost contact with the outside world.

How are you accessing BigDB in your game? Are you saving the same object from multiple places? Are you using optimistic locking? Is this client-side or server-side?

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your answer. After investigating and getting more reports we realized that this is a bug on our side, that happens in some rare cases. Sorry for bothering.
