PlayerObjects confusion

Postby wildbunny » April 14th, 2011, 11:47 am

Hi there,

I have another dumb question i'm afraid (I'm just starting out using BigDB, although i'm very familar with mysql):

When I look at my PlayerObjects table in big DB admin panel, it seems totally empty of fields, keys or data. I'm a little confused about the terminology:

An 'object' refers to a what would have been a row in mysql?
'Object key' means what?

When i click on 'new object' it asks me for a 'key', but since i've not defined any properties i'm not sure what this is asking me...

After i've created an object, it allows me to add properties, but this seems like i'm actually entering data rather than defining the table structure, because it wont allow me to continue until i've added value to go with property name...

Of course, I have read the documentation on BigDB and QuickConnect, but this is not covered as far as i can see...

Any advice is much appreciated :)

Cheers, Paul.

Ok, i think i've figured it out - I must have missed this piece of documentation:

http://playerio.com/documentation/bigdb/tables

Inside it briefly mentions that the tables are schema-less - this means you do not define the structure at all like you would with mysql.

Cheers, Paul.
