Player.IO Question

Postby Combo » May 14th, 2012, 1:11 pm

Hello there!

I am looking to use Player.IO with out upcoming games but i do not really understand something:
Player.IO is free until when? When do we need to start playing what ever is needed?
Also, knowing how much would be nice too.

Thanks in advance!

If you check the pricing page: http://playerio.com/pricing/, you can see what's included in the free plan. The idea is that what's allowed there is more than enough for testing, and should be enough for a small game with hundreds of active players each month.

When you hit a limit for the free plan, you need to upgrade to a paid plan, and when you do there's some resource usage included, and there's a charge for exceeding that. How much extra you'll be charged depends on what your game is using, and that's different between different games, so we can't tell you. You need to profile your game and figure out how much storage, how much bandwidth, how much CDN traffic, etc, it uses per user/match/game/over time.

We're pretty sure that when you hit the stage where you need to switch to a paid plan, you should be able to make money off of your game to cover for it. If your game is using a crazy amount of resources, you can always optimize it - send less data, store less data, save less often, etc.
