Azuana Bingo 2

Postby azuanagames » October 25th, 2010, 12:09 pm

I finished my first facebook game with player.io!

Ok, it's not that exciting, but I'm happy to have finally finished it. Getting folks to play it may prove to be much more difficult though.

The game is available here:
http://apps.facebook.com/azuana-bingo

It is built using Sitebox, QuickConnect, BigDB and the Multiplayer code as well.

Good luck to everyone, player.io is definitely a great system and I hope they have continued success.

I'm using flash debugger version so maybe that's the reason I get an error message :

Error: Error in response from Facebook api servers, most likely cause is expired or invalid access_token. Error message: Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: https://api-read.facebook.com/restserve ... callback=c
at Facebook::FB$/error()
at MethodInfo-54()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent()
at flash.net::URLLoader/onComplete()

I couldn't play it.

I don't know what to say, that's an error with the facebook/player.io integration. If you were not using the flash debugger I think I would show an error box. At least I believe we handle all the facebook errors. Nothing showed up on my ErrorLog.

What do you think Oliver?

This is when you first hit the app?

I've seen something like that once where it felt like the oauth access token hadn't propagated through all Facebook servers yet, because once i reloaded everything worked.

My best advice would be to try and change the Authentication method in the facebook developers section for your app, and see if it works any better. Facebook is a moving target, with tons of dark corridors and unfinished hallways, so sometimes it works if you just choose another path through the building.

Best.

Question: How does one go about promoting a facebook game? Other than ads? :0

The best free way on Facebook is by awarding users for inviting their friends. IE you could give people who invited their friends an extra plate for each game (Giving them a slight advantage).

Personally I expect to have extra smilies and bricks for people who share the game on Facebook in Everybody Edits.

I am also setting up a Player.IO powered games distribution network, might be something for you as well.

I've not tried it yet, but "Cross Promotion" may help:
