Hey guys!

I want to show you my game "Stick Run"!
It's a jump n run game, which has some nice features! 8-)
It has a singleplayer and a mutliplayer.
You can earn XP, level up and earn coins(you can buy awsome stuff with coins, for example: skins...more stuff will be added soon!)

I hosted the game with the sweet player.io gameFS, and it's awesome.(it's very fast and powerful!!!!)

I embedded the game into facebook, because I have to store the players data: highscore, xp, level, coins...
and I kinda was too lazy to code a guest-user mode :lol:

well, for those of you who dont have a facebook account, or just hate a game bound to facebook...it's not that bad as it seems!
You have all your friends easily attached to a game...isn't that awsome?
A facebook account is nothing bad! srsly! ;)

Nice ! very nice graphics and the sounds !
a few suggestions :
why ask for permission to access data anytime ?
the loading data preloader bar is not placed right
If i disable music it comes back on when returning from game or community screen
in community screen you can see the detailes only once and sometimes it is out of the screen
i got some errors trying to start a game with myself and when clicking up arrow when seeing the count 3 2 1 at the begginning of the game.
clicking the down arrow in game makes the window going down.
clicking search game in multiplayer never ends.

1. I was experimenting with the facebook extended permissions, so I took that out ;)
2.you mean the short "jump out of stage" of the bar? fixed!
3. fixed!
4.fixed!
5. I have noticed that too, but it's because of the "active"-value of a swf.
Only if you press a swf first, it will respond to key-pressing-events and other stuff!
sadly, if you press a button in flash (not a movieclip. a button) it kinda gets inactive...
but only on facebook :?

you just have to klick somewhere at swf to prevent it!

Well if you liked the bugs here are some more..
1) I can keep clicking "items" and it will open many windows
2) error message when returning to main menu while searching for multiplayers games
3) I still get this error when trying to play against myself
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at playerstats_mc/loop()
4) I don't know if that's what you meant but "other stuff" button works only once.

You can use focus for no. 5
If you press a button, just set "stage.focus = whereTheFocusHasToBe" (whereTheFocusHasToBe is often your document class, so your code would look like this: "stage.focus = root" or sth like that).

(it is fixed but not online yet ;) I will update it this evening!)

now to these errors u get.
it seems like you got an other version of flash then me, because those errors dont come at my computer!
I guess 1 year ago, i also had that flash-error-window popping up, everytime a error happened.
but ok I will try to fix this aswell.
if you want to prevent it, just dont klick on a player in the lobby.
the error comes from the playerstats_mc which are the stats that popup when you klick on a player ;)

Well it's pretty sad that almost noone is at the mutliplayer...
I currently have about 200 monthly active players ,still 20% plus(that actually kinda cool, because it could have been come alot worse :lol: ).
but the most of them prefer to play singleplayer, because...well there is noone in the lobby... :?

BTW: if you meet someone at the lobby, he's probably german, and we have GMT+0.(im from germany too!)
90% of the stickrun players are german, because the game didn't get known by searching or sth. like that, it got known because of the posts to the wall.
so it gets known at the circle of friends, and then at the circle of friends of a friend...etc. :)

Well, it sure looks that the game is getting noticed. Hopefully in time more people will get in on the multiplayer action. ;)

Hey everyone!

thanks for your support.
The users are going straight up with still 20%! 8-)

and Stickrun got a update!
whats new:
-you now can buy clothes for your stickman.
just press at your coins at the menu, and buy stuff ;)
you can equip them by pressing on "items" at the menu.
if you don't have enough coins, and don't have the time to earn them, tell me, i can give you some(it's no big deal ;) )

-bug fixes.
multiplayer was very buggy and other stuff too.
i fixed the most of them.

when removing your application rights and accessing your game again it gives error

Of course it gives you an error...what else should happen? :lol:
I mean I need the rights to access you facebook-data...
BTW: Do you really want the debug-flash player version?
I had it once and it was terrible :D because alot of swfs had small errors, and that was a result of permanent errors popping up...

Hi there!

Game doesn't work for me... It stops on screen saying "We are creating your profile...". I tried few times already but no luck

EDIT: works now!

Fun game, and mildly addicting. I enjoy the multiplayer, especially when 3 guys hit the same wall at once.

I notice that the facebook app has 3 different like buttons, each one 'liking' something else. What are we liking when we click these?

The game had that bug for one day, I fixed it now ;) .

@RastaRalle Thanks! I'm also very glad, that there are almost everytime players in the lobby :D

@LunarRaid Oh yeah, that's very amusing :)
The 3 like buttons:
actually the only one that counts as real app-like is the one in the "Find us on facebook" tab.
The one on the top actually just shows how many people liked that...I don't wanna remove it, because it's got more likes than any other button on the page :lol:
And the third one, I wish I could remove it...but you can't remove it, it's a part of the facebook-comment box.

yes but i can click myself only once. also it can take a long time (15 seconds or so) to load the data, also top 10 can take a long time to load.

I also have the problem of the web page scrolling up and down so i can only play with up arrow.

and the problem that if i click up during countdown it gives error

I thought you fixed the permissions issue because it asked me for permissions after i removed the application once but i see it still exists now because if i remove the application and right away enter the game again instead for asking permissions again, it gives the error

I know.

that is a really annoying thing!

Now that the game has 40.000 monthly players, and 10.000 dayly users, which is actually totally awesome,
the server gets damn slow. (something like 20 mySQL queries per second).

Does anyone know a good hosting-service with mySQL?

When you say the server gets slow, you mean your own MySQL server right?

(just making sure it's not our servers you're talking about)

Have you optimized your sql queries and/or added indexes already ?

If you're using a shared web hosting than i would say it's already pretty good if it allows 20 queries/sec. You don't need to change provider, what you should consider is getting a virtual private server, or even a fully dedicated server.
But keep in mind, tough a dedicated server would increase the server performance more than tenfold, it might just be a temporary solution if you keep up with that growth. If you need to scale MySQL across several servers, it won't be a trivial thing to do, have you considered migrating to BigDB ?

Hey guys,

Im gonna give you guys an update, if anyone is interested...

Thank you all for checking the game out!

a few month passed now, and the game got really successful!
It now has almost half a million players, and it's still growing.

I fixed ALOT of bugs, even though it's still beta.
I will leave beta soon.

@fox1980 thank you very much for your tip with the sql queries/index, it worked like a charm ;)

With over 6 mysql/php server switches I finally got myself a perfect one!
It's a root-linux server with a quad-core processor (costs about 50$ a month).
But making money with a fb-game is very easy, it's totally worth putting some effort in creating such a game!
I'm making 100-200$ bucks a day, so the servers are paid within one day ;)

Anyways,
I've gathered alot of knowledge about server/mysql/facebook stuff, so if anyone wants to build such a game, too, i'd be happy to help out :D
