I noticed that all the player io files are written in as3 so I am wondering how I would use them with a game I am writing with as2? Any help please?

There is no native AS2 support in the system as is. It is technically possible to write an AVM2 to AVM1 wrapper but you are the first to request something like this.

How about a flash bridge?

They are a hassle, but they do get the job done.
